Celebrate the wins of your users and they're more likely to complete the next step in their journey.
Hello Friends of Appcues,
If you've been to the gym lately, you've probably noticed a surge in new faces because of the new year. Unfortunately, after three months, 90% of those folks will stop going altogether!
That's often the reality for new users, too. They start excited, but as the hours turn into days, most drop off and never return to the product.
How do you prevent that?
One thing great coaches, mentors, and teachers do is celebrate small wins to guide folks to the next step.
And that's exactly what sticky product experiences do!
Mural gives us a great example to dig into. Mural's new users are greeted with playful confetti after they successfully set up a collaborative space. A pop-up appears, congratulating the user and nudging them to invite colleagues to their account.
I call this the "congrats and next" strategy. Anytime your users accomplish something, celebrate that win no matter how small or big it is. Then, suggest a next step for them to take.
I chatted with Lauren Schuman, Mural's former VP of Product Growth, and she explained in detail how this delightful product experience is part of a company-wide value to "play to win."
Loading screens, 404 pages, form submission prompts, and email confirmations are annoying! But they don't have to be. With a little personality and delightful UX design, you can easily surprise and woo users with a little personality.
Whether it’s bad copy or a confusing UI choice, your user’s journey can end with a single obtrusive roadblock. So, every aspect of your user journey must be planned and optimized for the best possible user experience.
I'd love to hear from you! I'm curious about what you will be doing differently in 2024 to drive user engagement for your product. Please feel free to complete the form using the link above or reply to this email.
